What is the MOZA R3? It is a direct drive system with outstanding value for money. For this challenge, I used the MOZA Racing R3 bundle version. The R3 is a direct drive wheelbase with a solid 3.9 newton-metres (N·m) of torque. With direct drive, the steering wheel and motor are connected directly, so it communicates road-surface bumps and the car’s behaviour to your hands with exceptional realism. What stands out is that this R3 bundle supports Xbox. The included dedicated steering wheel has an Xbox-compatible chip built in, and attaching it to the R3 wheelbase lets you enjoy MOZA’s high-performance sim-racing environment on Xbox as well. An F1 wheel with a display can also be used, and that is the wheel I used for this session.

A “3.9 N·m direct drive wheel” has torque comparable to the belt-driven T300RS (3.6–3.9 N·m). Thanks to the characteristics of direct drive, however, it is more responsive than the T300RS. My experience at the F1 23 Dutch GP
Just before qualifying began, rain was forecast. I headed out early, trying to set a time before the track became wet. I drove while feeling the realistic feedback from the MOZA R3’s direct drive system, but I became absorbed in commentary and lost my concentration.

The result and hardware review: what I took away from an intense battle, and the MOZA R3’s real strength. After a fierce battle and several incidents, the Dutch GP final ended with me in 14th place. Dropping back from sixth in qualifying was frustrating, but even while drenched in sweat, I described it as making me “feel like a racer” and “a drama”—which says a lot about the immersion and excitement.
